So, I know this is late, but life stuff happens and this is late.
So this is how the tournament went down pretty much. I went 3-2 in bracket, which was pretty good for being the youngest one there. Basically, for the unoriented, that just means I won 3 out of my 5 matches in bracket. Pretty much the only character I used the entirety of the time was Cloud, although I tried counterpicking Sonic against a Bayonetta and I ended up getting rekt. In hindsight, staying Cloud would\'ve been a much better option. At that point, however, staying in bracket longer would\'ve cut into my sleeping time, so, sacrifices had to be made.
Also for the unoriented, tourney standards are as follows...
-Best of 3 game (Unless it\'s a Top 8 set)
Legal Stage List
Starters : Battlefield/Miiverse, Final Destination, Smashville, Lylat Cruise, Town & City
Counterpicks: Duck Hunt, Dream Land 64
Determining Stage choice:
First Game: Both player rock-paper-scissors. The winner strikes a starter stage, the loser strikes two starter stages, then the winner picks from the two starter stages that are left.
All Other Games: The winner of the previous game bans one stage from the stage list, including the counterpick stages. The loser then chooses from any of the remaining stages.
My first set was against a Peach and Rosa main. These two aren\'t particulary hard matchups for Cloud, so I took both games easy-peasy without even dropping a stock. The only highlight-worthy moment was during game 2. I was at 120%, two stocks and Rosa was at 98%, one stock. I had Limit Break, so I Limit Break Cross Slashed to kill Luma. Right as the Cross Slash ended, the very tip of the last hit connected with Rosa\'s hurtbox, and somehow it was enough to kill.
My second set was against a Meta Knight main. Once again, not a hard matchup for Cloud(who probably has the best matchup spread in the game XD), especially considering Cloud\'s disjoint is much bigger than Meta Knight\'s, so I took another match easy-peasy. I dropped a stock this time in a game, but I still hadn\'t dropped a game at that point, so I was still pretty confident.
The third set didn’t go nearly as well for me. I ran into this really good Diddy Kong player and I ended up losing the set 2-0, dropping to losers bracket.
And the last two sets are up on YouTube, so I hopefully don’t have to say anything. Oh yeah, except for… please don’t judge me for “counter”picking Sonic. I’m not really experienced in the Bayonetta matchup, and I’ve already gotten a lot of shit from my friends for choosing Sonic when my Cloud is clearly much better.
Anyways, enough about the past. I’ll most likely be going to another local on the 17th, just thought you might want to know. There is no Twitch page for it, so you can’t follow my progress there, but I’ll keep people posted with PMs if they so wish. Here’s the event page:
EDIT: Apparently 41 minutes is too long of a time to drive to go to tournament so dad won\'t take me cri evrytiem
just 2 more years
git me a driver\'s license
That’s all for now. I’ll probably be posting a lot of this stuff on the PAF news from now on for those that want to know this, thanks for putting up with all this stuff.
BTW for PAF stuff I\'m still working on the new page and stuff so stay patient peeps
It\'ll be ready in the next 2 weeks hopefully
